Tesco expands click-and-collect service with new slot
Tesco has extended its same-day click-and-collect service to enable customers to pick up ordered items at an earlier time.
The current offer allows customers to shop online by 1pm for collection after 4pm.
The expansion will enable customers to pick up their groceries from 12noon onwards when they order before 9am.
The service will available in over 300 Tesco stores throughout the UK.
Tesco said that online shoppers now have wider choice on how to collect their grocery items.
The supermarket chain says that the introduction of the additional slot was driven by the 20% surge in the number of customers who had used the Click and Collect service last year.
Tesco online managing director Adrian Letts said: “More customers than ever are choosing to use our grocery Click and Collect service which is we’ve decided to introduce a new same day collection slot.
“We offer a range of ways to shop with Tesco and Click and Collect means customers can choose to pick up their shopping at a time and location that suits them, without having to hit the aisles themselves.”
As per Tesco, the Same Day collection feature has become quite popular, and has accounted to nearly 10% in the Click and Collect bookings.
The new changes according to Tesco would enhance its service options further to customers in addition to the same day home delivery offered in London and South East UK.
Based on time and collection day, Tesco says that the Click and Collect service would cost between £0 and £4. On the other hand, Delivery Saver customers would get free of charge Click and Collect and Same Day Delivery services.
In a separate development, Tesco claims to have become the first retailer in the UK to offer full range of fresh pet food with the introduction of the Freshpet food range.
