Tesco to open superstore in Brixham
Tesco, the UK supermarket group, has signed contract with the Torbay Development Agency (TDA) to open a superstore in Brixham, a fishing town in the county of Devon, south-west of England, reports said.
TDA and its development partner Albourne Property are reportedly building the long-awaited $26m retail center. Tesco needs to seek approval from the town's planning authorities and the environment agency, which would conduct viability checks. Although no time frame has been officially given by the company, according to media reports Tesco plans to start construction work of the outlet by September this year and aims to open the outlet by February 2013.
TDA's development project includes a multi-storey car parking facility, small retail outlets and a supermarket. Local officials consider that the development of the project would boost tourism and local economy.
